A LETTER FROM FORMER PRESIDENT SHEHU SHAGARI TO THE IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN

Second Republic President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, has described immediate-past President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, as a ‘rare breed’ whose actions strengthened democracy in Africa and made the continent proud.

Shagari’s observations were contained in a letter to Dr Jonathan dated November 20, 2015 bearing the caption: ‘Happy 58th Birthday’, personally signed by him.

Dear Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,

With all sincerity of the heart, “Your birthday deserves to be celebrated both at home and abroad given to your selfless services to our beloved fatherland. Your spectacular commitment in the development of our cherished values of democracy in Nigeria and Africa is legendary.

On the African political landscape, you are, indeed, a rare breed. Your name shall always be written in gold whenever the history of Nigeria is being dispassionately studied or analyzed.”

I watched with keen interest when a few days ago, my friend, the former US President, Mr Jimmy Carter, showered praises on Your Excellency, Your incredible achievements have done pride to both Nigeria and Africa.

President Good luck Jonathan you are  the symbol of democracy in Africa, You set an example that African leaders should follow’.

Mr. Jimmy Carter’s my noble friend with abiding love and faith in our country Nigeria, Africa and humanity in general is not in doubt. He was the first US President to visit our beloved nation. I had the privilege of visiting him in the White House when I was President of our country.

This equally credible testimony from such a global political figure has done lasting honor on you, our nation and Africa as a whole, his remarks has endeared you to all and has also assured your deserved place in the annals of nations.

Your name shall always be written in gold whenever the history of Nigeria is being dispassionately studied or analyzed”, opined the former President.

Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest brotherly considerations, my prayers and my very best wishes at all times.”

Yours sincerely
Alhaji Shehu Shagari

THE STORY OF A LADY THAT IS IN LOVE WITH A TREE...

A tabloid from NEW YORK states that a 31-year-old woman is actually finding happiness with a poplar tree, after a series of failed relationships with human men.
Not only that, according to reports, the woman is quoted in the magazine claiming that sex with the tree is the best she’s ever had.
But the questions in everybody mouth is how possibly can it be?
Some known health specialist said that such act is indeed a psychological disorder called dendrophilia –  when asked further on what can encouraged such sexual attraction to a tree.
Dr. Chloe Carmichael, a clinical psychologist, also says: “It could be a form of exhibitionism, in which a person will go to any length to enjoy the focus of others on his/her sexuality, or a form of acting out, in which a person might even have a minor break with reality to act out a fantasy that assuages a particular upset. In this case, rather than feeling rejected or betrayed by men, she feels powerful by rejecting men in favor of something else that cannot leave her or betray her as she says men have done.”

FEDERAL ROAD SAFETY CORPS ALERTS ON THE RECKLESS USE OF THE ROADS AND BAD DRIVING...............

While addressing the general public and looking at the road safety problems objectively, has this to say, that it is might not be fair to completely attribute road crashes to the state of Nigerian roads alone because the human factor remains a prevailing variable as well,

Corps Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Commander Imoh Etuk, further said that is the wrong usage of the roads that causes most  of the crashes and not always the poor road condition.

This factor, he said, explains why the FRSC invest heavily on awareness campaigns and other forms of advocacy to engender best road practices from road users across the country.
Etuk said from empirical studies conducted, speed limit violation remains a prevailing factor for road traffic crashes in the country. He said this informed the FRSC collaboration with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), National Automotive Council (NAC) and other relevant stakeholders to initiate the speed limiting device as part of measures to address the menace of speed-related road crashes.

There is also the re-certification of commercial drivers including routine medical checks and other proactive strategies towards addressing the menace of road crashes involving heavy duty vehicles.
Etuk, who spoke on the need to ensure safety especially as  Yuletide approaches, said the FRSC has started its campaign for this period with: “Operation Sanity: Drive Safely into 2016,” as its theme. According to him, it is part of FRSC resolve to drastically reduce the spate of road traffic crashes during the Ember season.

Also, the introduction of the Driving School Standardisation Programme (DSSP) by the FRSC, Etuk further explained, is a further step at ensuring safety. The DSSP is a programme aimed at evolving minimum uniform standards for driving schools in Nigeria. DSSP seeks to regulate the establishment of Driving Schools in Nigeria, in line with Section 5 (f) of the FRSC Establishment Act 2007.

Breaking News: Abubakar Audu feared dead, NOVEMBER 22, 2015

There are fears that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Saturday’s Kogi State governorship election, Abubakar Audu, is dead.
Audu, according to a report on Sahara Reporters, died shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday declared the election inconclusive.

Though the credible online news medium said it could not determine the cause of death as at press time, sources told it Audu died shortly after INEC said a date for fresh election in areas with nullified votes would soon be fixed.
Channels Television is also reporting the death of Audu.

However, his aides did not respond to calls by The Eagle Online, fuelling the suspicion that the report could be true.
At the conclusion of collation of results from the 21 local government areas of the state, Audu polled 240,867 votes, while the incumbent and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Captain Idris Wada, came second with 199,514 votes.

The Returning Officer for the election. Prof Emmanuel Kucha, said 49,953 votes were cancelled and this was more than the margin between the votes of Audu and Wada.
INEC, Kucha said, will fix a date for the supplementary election in areas that had their votes canceled.

I honestly and sincerely believes that this very kind of constitution can be practicable in our present day Nigeria, I know that some people will argue me that Cuba is a communist state thereby any social-socialist achievement they have attained is very impossible in our present society , I totally disagree and that is not the theme for my writing , that even in the impossible, I still sees i'm possible ,my call is for human altruism , self-sacrifice that will improve our society, a crony call for patriotism and good rational reasoning and judgement, that will project outwardly our nation wellbeing through a healthy dialogue via government of national unity that will finally faction out Nigerian peoples constitution that will take care all the whole segments of our society like the Cuban constitution , let us now call for a referendum that will discussed how our people can rightful be the owners of our political powers, let it be known that any community, no matter Where, in which any citizen is not allowed to have his voice in the Making of the laws he must obey, that community is a tyranny.
It is a matter of astonishment to me that the Nigerian leaders who are deliberately avoiding the call for open-dialogue that will be able to chat a new cause for a better Nigeria should now rethink their actions.
If they citizens vote can’t count and they are not allowed to vote for the person of their choice or allow govern themselves in peace then I fear for the tribulation that will follow such, there is no sound reason why we must not have a national dialogue that will allow us to fashion out better ways we can stay together in peace as one nation, if not then the American idea of democracy we are coping is obvious a failure on our side , upon this very ground am supporting the call for the government of national unity and regional- dialogue that will address our numerous problems as a people, from a refined view point, let the referendum start now , where my right to vote and be voted for, will count because I am a man and a citizen of Nigeria, and that right I should and willing to demonstrate............................................

With bar-hands we must fight this war,
With all the armament of time we must fight,

Splitting budget planning from finance ministry risky – Ezekwesili

A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, says the splitting of budget planning from the control of the Ministry of Finance by President Muhammadu Buhari has grave implications.
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, inaugurated the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, and Mr. Udoma Udo Udoma as the Minister of Budget and National Planning.
But the former minister, according to her press release from her series of tweets on her official Twitter handle on Wednesday, said separating the two ministries was one of the risks to watch out for in the new dispensation.

Ezekwesili further said, that in a countries where budget and finance were managed separately, it took the professional maturity of the two ministers to get anything done.

According to her, the Ministry of National Planning as presently constituted by the Buhari government might not have the required skills needed for “the kind of strategic budgeting required.”

She said, “A minister of finance without control of the tool of budget can be hampered in managing the fiscal imperatives of the economy. Seeing that budget has been moved out of the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of National Planning, there are some downsides and upshots. We have to watch out for more of the downsides.

“The movement of the Ministry of National Planning away from the Ministry of Finance is one risk to watch out for in the new structure of ministries. National planning has been rather anachronistic. With these new persons’ as managers of the budget, they need to overhaul and renew.”
Ezekwesili asked Nigerian to do effective engagement in policy debates across the sectors.

She commended President Buhari for appointing Chief Audu Ogbeh as the Minister of Agriculture, adding that the President was wise not to have wasted the skills of Ogbeh by putting him in a ministry where his skills might not be brought to the fore.

The former minister also advised the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, to make the ministry a driver of knowledge for economic development.
She added, “President Buhari and the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachukwu, should bite the bullet and overhaul the distorted oil sector. Is it going to be easy (for the ministers)? A big no! Am I optimistic? Yes. Why? Some of the great assigning of talents can pull the rest up.

“The combination of Kemi Adeosun and Okey Enelamah in the Ministry of Finance must urgently face the humongous task of reversing the decline in economic growth. They will engage in structural transformation of the economy for job creation and economic growth.

“The best thing for Nigerian citizens to be doing at this time is to set up tools for effective engagement in policy debates across sectors of best interest. I pray that Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu will finally get our science and technology ministry as a knowledge driver for economic development.”

The mysteries of S120

A poetic reflects over my search for the S120 in the city of Jos as cadet officer some years back……..

Written by Aguiyi Henry

In the city of stones, covered with the harsh cloud of smokes and cold weather, I saw it all

In the home of the Mountains, Plateaus and Rocks, I saw it first in my quest for the S120

In the land of tins, marble, Granites and kaolin, I saw it first

In the home of the savannah, plateaus and woodland, I saw it first

In the cosmopolitan city of Jos, I saw it first

In the shelling hills mountain school, I saw it first

It was near and farthest edges of the lamigo dam, I saw it first

It is great, it is massive, it is huge it is immense

It is tall, it is big, it is vast it is gigantic,

It is a mountain, it is a rock, and it is a stone

It is hidden in the jungle of Jos

It has no road leading to it

It has no sign post for directions

It can never seen by naked eyes of any advancing troopers

Nor knew by the people of the plateau whom lives around it

Yet it is inside the heart of Jos and the pride of the city

We the visiting troops of adventurers discovered it with our compass

We climbed it to the top

It is the highest mountain known by men in the city of Jos

On top of it was broadly written

It is called S120

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the attacks on Sept. 11).

Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of   our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe ...He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?" In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school .... the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK. Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK. Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves. Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW." Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

CONFLICTS OF THE MIND: THE BEAUTY OF NATURE

CONFLICTS OF THE MIND: THE BEAUTY OF NATURE: A fan of mine , said to me, that she is in love with the beauties of nature, that I should write something about it, I then elevat...

THE BEAUTY OF NATURE

A fan of mine , said to me, that she is in love with the beauties of nature, that I should write something about it, I then elevated my head and looked to the road leading to the south and to the north and said to my very self, yes we are all part of this infinite process called nature, we are the real brothers of the moon and the stars, the sun and the mother earth, the mountains and the seas, the trees and the flowers, animals and the birds, insects and fishes ,we were all integral partners in this beauty contest of our nature.

One does not really have to go very far to find the beauties of nature. The things of nature are spread all around us. Wherever we go, we see the beauty of nature in their shape, their colors and form, all attracts our attention. The beauty of nature is found in small object as well as in panoramic scenes. The little things are beautiful, so as the big things like the lofty snow-capped mountain.

There are beauty in the quiet stream that winds its way softly among the fragrant bushes of an evergreen forest. There is beauty in the vast sandy beaches and blue water of the oceans. There is beauty in the sun, rising gloriously in the morning and then going down the horizon in the evening and fading twilight to the night, are all-beautiful.

A person who has artistic mind will always be inspired by the beautiful sense of nature.
The beauties of nature are endless, just like a garden with its flowers of so many colors and shades spreading their scent all around us, the same applies to the deserts, it grow and bloom under the scorching sun with its nature create beauty out of the barren sand.

The mountains present their own kind of natural beauty as well as the cloud that come down in the evening after the sun set. The trees turning a shade greener and the flowers becoming brighter after a drizzle are scenes that always live in one’s memory.

To me, Beauty seem to be hard to define, but easy to recognize. In nature beauty maybe discerned in all things and places, even in the most unexpected regions of the earth, there is beauty in the variety of everything; be it flowers, birds, animals and plants, many of which are vividly colorful in their own ways. There is beauty in mountain, valley and hill, and in the skies, even in rainfalls, beauty can be found in all the creations of God.

The beauty that we find in flower objects, which concealed its beautiful nature from human sight, suddenly reveal their secrets to us when we stumbles over them, the same touches often fascinates the hunter who scans the forests for a catch. The beauty of the multitudinous creatures that swarm in the seas also do the same to the fishermen who turns to the sea for their livelihood. Many of these creatures are found even on the shore.

However, the oceans often conceal the beauty that lies below their surface, and for them is a quest to catch a glimpse of the beauty of the world below the sea even at the risk of losing their lives. Even the farmer and the traveler appreciate the beauty that is found in nature. The farmer finds beauty in the variety of the plants that he grow.

The traveler is impressed with the beauty of distant hills and mountains, and the beauty of meandering rivers in large valleys. He is also appreciative of the beauty of the night as he travels in the moonlight; he looks at the landscape and is lost in admiration of it, the same applies to man who finds a wife, is always hook by the beauty in the woman.

The beauty in nature are all appreciated by man, almost every one delights to see the rushing streams and the numerous birds and animals that may be found in every part of the earth, for these are part of the ornaments of nature. Even the tiniest of creatures has beauty of its’ own.

In search of the beauties of nature, men in all parts of the world are all traveling great distances and spending a great deal of money, their life savings in appreciation of the beauties of our nature . Men have also visited the islands that are spread throughout the world in search of the natural beauty. Many have seen visited the cold mountains and deserts, in the Artic as well as the hottest desert where few plants grow, in search of the beauty that may be found in these regions, despite the lack of vegetation and animal’s life.

The deserts are equally a beautiful place, the home of many beautiful plants, animals and birds, which find sufficient refuge .
Yet there are group of people who are most appreciative of natural beauty, they are the artist ,the poet, the essayist, men of vision, character and form, they find music and beauty in the movement of the clouds and winds, the flows of the streams and sound of ocean, the deep appreciation of the beauty they find around, impels them to give the utterance to nature in the most expressive language, which in itself often imperishable beauty.

Today I say to you all, let us celebrate the beauty of Nature - the heart of Mother Earth. Let us sing the pure and simple power of love and life, and celebrate its plants, animals, colors, movements and wonders. Let us enjoy the essence of things and experience the wondrous Universe that sings through our hearts. Let us become aware of the images of reality, nature has created for us all. Let us see what happens when our consciousness changes and we reach a state without any tension, a state of deep breathing, focused on the heart, full of peace and deep stillness.

We can evoke the power of nature through a direct relationship with all its aspects, by being one with everything. Let us develop respect and appreciation for all of the aspects of Nature for the healing that they are constantly giving us. Let us move beyond the simple satisfaction of personal needs and become something greater in order to create a reality in harmony with our spiritual aspirations. Let us go green and support our disabling eco-system, Let us take responsibility for our processes, raise our consciousness and find the love and the light in each situation.

What a marvelous feeling to be in harmonious relationship with All that Is - a feeling of right participation in the Universe.

Thanks for your considerations.........

THE DRAMA: GREAT TO BE A GUY

I told a friend my today, that is really great to be a guy ,and she asked me how and why am I saying that? and replied her by pointing at that my little travelling bag at the corner of my room and says to her, look at that down thing there, thus all I have here, just containing only three shirts and two pairs of pants which are enough clothes for my one month holidays , and she says what again and i reply her that with then all, I dont go around asking everybody again and again whether my pants really makes my butt look big or small and she  then replies and so what ? I replies her that whether am beautiful or beast looking in my pants m-e-n i still get along with hot girls like her after all, there are no stretch marks on my body, then she says back to me, is like am taking it too personal on her and i said sorry and that is why i dont complain and only keep to myself, ok i said it again to her she is much free to join me at the corner bar, if it would take her all days and hours to get ready. Then she kept quite and  I shouted it out, yes is really great to be a guy and i wish you are one.
